Abstract

Whenever human thoughts or emotions were influenced by anything, the spontaneous words spoken by humans turned into songs. These songs, born from the human voice, gave rise to melody and rhythm. Songs became an essential part of human life and opened a new path of expression. The aspects of intense emotions that humans preserved within songs eventually became their themes. Thus, the song became a purely human genre, and every community in the world created songs in its own way. In the literature of all languages, songs can be found. Saraiki songs have been sung for centuries. Many of these songs either took the form of folk songs or gradually disappeared over time. In Saraiki literature, most songs are found as part of folk literature. When the publication of Saraiki literature began in the second decade of the twentieth century, Saraiki songs also started to appear both individually and in collected forms. Saraiki songs exist in various forms. The major themes of Saraiki songs include separation and reunion, regional identity, sorrow and longing, politics, and other cultural subjects. With their unique themes, linguistic richness, and expressive vocabulary, Saraiki songs have earned a distinct place in world literature.
