The Noble Prophetic Hadith is the second source of Islamic legislation after the Holy Quran. It consists of the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who was granted the gift of concise and profound speech, conveying immense meanings, lofty ideas, and unparalleled eloquence in just a few words. The Arabic language is the primary means of understanding this Prophetic discourse and grasping its implications and meanings.
This research sheds light on the beauty of Prophetic expression, its eloquence, and the role of the Arabic language in accurately and clearly conveying the meanings of the Noble Hadith. It highlights how the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) eloquence was among the signs of his prophethood and how Arabic was the ideal tool for delivering his message.
This study explores the role of the Arabic language—with its rhetorical precision, clarity, and fluency—in conveying the nuanced meanings of the Noble Prophetic Hadith. It demonstrates how understanding the linguistic features of Arabic are a fundamental key to comprehending the rulings, legislation, and moral teachings contained within the Prophetic Sunnah. Additionally, it examines the rhetorical and stylistic aspects that distinguish Prophetic speech, such as conciseness, simile, metaphor, repetition, and the use of parables, illustrating how these techniques reinforce meanings in the minds of the audience.
The research adopts a semantic-linguistic analytical approach to a number of Prophetic Hadiths, connecting them with grammatical, morphological, and rhetorical contexts, and citing the statements of scholars from among the Hadith commentators and linguists.
