An Analytical Study of Religious Sanctities and the Issue of Blasphemy in the 0Contemporary Era

Abstract

In the contemporary era, the sanctity of religious symbols and the issue of blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) have become central to global intellectual, legal, and socio-cultural debates. The challenge of balancing freedom of expression with the reverence of religious values has grown increasingly complex, especially as instances of blasphemy provoke widespread unrest, extremism, and socio-political polarization across the world. This analytical study critically examines these sensitive issues within both Islamic and international frameworks. It explores the sacred status of the Prophet (PBUH) in Islamic thought, juxtaposed with international human rights discourse, freedom of speech laws, and diverse societal responses. The aim of this research is to foster a balanced intellectual dialogue that promotes interfaith harmony, religious tolerance, and global peace. Consequently, the study provides a thoughtful perspective on navigating the modern-day challenges surrounding religious sentiments and freedom of expression in a pluralistic world.
