URDU CRITICISM AND NEW HISTORICISM

Abstract

New Historicism in Urdu Literature is an interesting research work. It highlights the events in their true Sense which is not presented by pure historians. Usually, Historians report the incidents, fights and wars as they are directed by their ruler. The prohibited and real picture of the event is presented by the literary Persons in the form of poetry, prose, story, fiction and novels. In order to access the true picture of past events, it is mandatory to go through the literature of that era. In current research paper, it is tried and struggled to invite the attention of researchers that they should consult literature to comprehend the real sense of historical records.

Historicism is a literary term that refers to the idea that literature, regardless of its period, should be viewed in the context of the concepts, formalities, and perspectives of that period. High-quality literature cannot be limited to a particular period. However, every writer and poet creates literature within the specific social atmosphere and intellectual attitudes of his or her period, and this atmosphere or attitudes are reflected to some extent in his or her writings. The purpose of historicism is to make literature from different periods more meaningful to the contemporary reader. The primary task of historicism is to understand and explain the concepts and values ​​through which a civilization maintains its continuity.
