Muhammad ﷺ. Before the advent of Islam, widows were victims of severe social injustices, economic exploitation, and emotional neglect. They were deprived of inheritance, remarriage, and personal dignity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, through his exemplary conduct and divine guidance, restored their honor and established their legitimate rights. Islam recognized the widow’s right to inheritance, maintenance, remarriage, and social respect, providing her with both emotional and financial security. This paper analyzes how the Prophet ﷺ not only emphasized these rights in his teachings but also demonstrated them practically through his marriages to widows and through compassion towards the poor and helpless. The research also contrasts the Islamic concept of widowhood with the cruel traditions of pre-Islamic and Hindu societies, such as Sati and lifelong deprivation. The findings highlight that Islam is the only religion that ensures the widow’s dignity, security, and integration into society, making her a respected and valued member of the community.
